20 veneers and 2 implants: how such a case is planned
The short answer: it is not done in a single trip. An implant has to fuse with the bone — usually three to six months — and only then does it receive its permanent crown. So the plan splits into two trips: surgery and temporaries first, permanent crowns and veneers second. There is one exception: if the implants are in the chewing zone and the veneers at the front, the aesthetic part can sometimes be finished on the first trip.
Why the order is what it is
An implant needs time
Titanium fuses with bone in three to six months on average: faster in the lower jaw, slower in the upper. Fitting the permanent crown earlier means loading something that does not yet hold.
The gum changes after surgery
The gum contour around an implant takes months to settle. Make the neighbouring veneers straight away and six months later their edge may no longer sit where it should.
Health first, aesthetics after
Decay, gum inflammation and root canals are treated before any ceramic. A veneer over an unhealthy tooth is a covered problem, not a solved one.
The bite sets the shape
When both the chewing teeth and the front ones are involved, the height of the bite is decided once — and the veneers are then modelled to fit it.
How it fits into two trips
Before the trip
You send photos and an X-ray — panoramic, or a 3D scan if you have one. The dentist assesses the scope and prepares a preliminary plan with a price.
First trip, 7–10 days
Diagnostics, treatment of whatever needs treating, placement of the implants. Digital smile design and a try-in. If the zone allows, the veneers go in now; if not, temporaries do the work.
A pause of 3–6 months
The implants fuse with the bone while you are at home. The coordinator stays in touch and, if needed, the dentist reviews a follow-up X-ray taken in your own city.
Second trip, 5–7 days
Gum shaping, impressions, permanent crowns on the implants and permanent veneers. The bite is checked and everything is tried in before it is fixed.
How the price adds up
The arithmetic from the price list
An E.max veneer starts from €250 per tooth, an Osstem implant with a crown from €490. Twenty veneers and two implants come to roughly €6,000 at list prices. That is the lower bound, not the total.
What changes the figure
Extractions, bone grafting, sinus lifting, root canal treatment, a different implant system. All of it is visible on the X-rays and goes into the plan before the trip, instead of surfacing in the chair.
In the treatment plan the cost of the listed work is fixed. If the examination on site shows that something beyond the plan is needed, the dentist names it separately and before the work begins.
What can shift the timing
Not enough bone
If the volume is small, bone grafting or a sinus lift is needed. That adds a few months to the pause and is visible on the X-ray in advance.
Gum inflammation
Periodontitis is treated before implantation. On an inflamed gum implants hold worse and the edge of a veneer shows.
Bruxism
Clenching at night loads both the ceramic and the implants. The cause is addressed first and a protective splint is made.
General health
Uncontrolled diabetes, smoking and certain medications affect healing. The dentist asks about this before the plan, not after.
Common questions
Send an X-ray — get a plan with the order and the timing
A panoramic X-ray shows the state of the bone and the teeth. That is enough to split the work between trips and name a price.
