All-on-4 and All-on-6: a whole jaw on implants

The technique restores every tooth in a jaw, resting on four or six implants. The prosthesis is fixed: it is not taken out at night and does not shift while you eat. This is the solution for a complete loss of teeth, or when there is no longer any point in keeping the remaining ones.

Who it suits

There are no teeth left in the jaw

The classic case for a fixed construction on implants.

The remaining teeth cannot be saved

Loose teeth with periodontitis that will have to be extracted in any case.

A removable denture will not stay in place

Especially in the lower jaw, where a denture has nothing to hold on to.

A fixed option is needed

You are not prepared to live with something that has to be taken out and cleaned separately.

How it works

CT scan and planning

The 3D scan shows where and at what angle the implants can be placed without bone grafting.

Preparation

Any teeth that need extracting are removed. Clearing up the mouth first is essential.

Placing the implants

Four or six implants are placed in a single visit, the rear ones at an angle so that they rest on denser bone.

Temporary prosthesis

A temporary fixed prosthesis is usually fitted within a few days — you leave with teeth.

Permanent prosthesis

A few months later, once the implants have integrated, you come back for the permanent construction.

What is worth knowing in advance

This means two trips

You receive the temporary prosthesis straight away, but the permanent one only after the implants have integrated.

Enough bone is needed

The technique is designed to avoid bone grafting, but a minimum volume is still required — the CT scan will show it.

Care is essential

A fixed prosthesis calls for a water flosser and regular check-ups, otherwise the gums around the implants suffer.

Smoking and general health conditions

They affect integration directly. The doctor has a duty to discuss this before surgery.

Frequent questions

The number of supports. Six implants spread the load more evenly and leave a margin of strength; four cost less and are less invasive. The choice depends on the volume and density of the bone, and the doctor decides from the CT scan.
A temporary prosthesis really can be fixed in the days right after surgery, so you do not leave without teeth. But the permanent construction is only fitted after integration — promises of "permanent teeth in one day" are worth treating with caution.
No, the patient does not remove it. The doctor can take it off at a check-up if needed, for a professional cleaning.
